2. What we collect
What you give us
- Name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number
- Order contents, order history and anything you write to us in an email or a contact form
- Your email address alone, if you only subscribe for the coop plans and never buy anything
What payment collects, and we don't see
Card payments are processed by Shopify's checkout and its payment processors. We never receive or store your full card number. We see the last four digits, the card type and whether the payment succeeded.
What's collected automatically
Device and browser type, IP address, referring page, pages viewed and time on site, via cookies and similar technologies.
3. Why we use it
To take, ship and support your order; to answer your emails; to prevent fraud and abuse; to meet tax and accounting obligations; to run the site; and — only if you asked for it — to send you marketing email.
4. Who we share it with
To get your order to you, your name, shipping address, phone number and the items ordered are shared with the fulfilment partner handling that product and with the carrier delivering it. Some of these partners operate outside the United States.
We also share data with:
- Shopify — store platform, checkout, order records, and our email sending
- Payment processors — to take the payment
- Carriers — to deliver the cartons
We disclose information where the law requires it, and in connection with a sale or transfer of the business. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade our email list.
5. Email marketing
You get marketing email from us only if you asked for it — by subscribing, downloading the coop plans, or opting in at checkout.
- Every email has a working one-click unsubscribe, and we act on it promptly.
- Every email carries our real business postal address, as US law requires.
- Subject lines and sender names describe what's actually in the email.
- Order confirmations, shipping updates and support replies are transactional and continue even if you unsubscribe from marketing.
6. Cookies
The site uses cookies that are necessary for it to work (cart, checkout, session) and, if configured, analytics and advertising cookies. You can control cookies in your browser; blocking the necessary ones will break checkout.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what we hold, get a copy, correct it, delete it, opt out of targeted advertising or the "sale"/"sharing" of your data, and appeal a refusal. We won't discriminate against you for exercising any of them.
How to exercise them: email contact@moveablechickencoop.com with the request and the email address or order number it relates to. We may need to verify who you are before acting — for an order-related request, that usually means the email address the order was placed with.
8. How long we keep it
Order records for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Email subscribers until they unsubscribe, plus a suppression record so we don't email them again by mistake. Support emails for as long as they're useful to the person who sent them.
9. Children
This store isn't intended for children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under . If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
10. Security
Payments and checkout run on Shopify's PCI-compliant infrastructure over an encrypted connection. No system is perfectly secure, and we don't claim otherwise. If a breach affects you, we'll notify you as the law requires.
11. Changes
We'll post any changes here with a new effective date. Material changes to how we share data will be announced to email subscribers as well as posted.
