Hen capacity PawHut asks the buyer to judge by breed and size

Our sizing: two hens, or three if they free-range most of the day. At the usual rule of thumb — 4 sq ft of coop and 8–10 sq ft of run per standard hen — the 6.1 sq ft living area and 17.5 sq ft of run land squarely at two. The length here is mostly run rather than roosting space, which is what you want if the flock spends its day outside.

Wheels Fitted to one side

The wheels are on one side, so you lift the opposite end to move it — the same motion as a wheelbarrow. Level ground and one adult is usually enough for a coop this size.

It arrives flat-packed with a manual, and assembly is required. At 96.5 inches it goes together best with two people — one holding, one driving screws — and an afternoon. Worth knowing if it's a gift.

Pull the tray weekly; the wire run panels need a stiff brush a few times a season. Put the run end where you want the grass grazed and the living-area end where you can reach the hinged nest lid without stepping into the run. Move it before the patch under the run goes bare — usually every three or four days in growing season.

These are long, heavy, flat-packed cartons, so they travel by freight rather than parcel post. We confirm your delivery window in writing once your order is placed, and you get tracking as soon as the cartons leave the warehouse. If we can't meet the window we gave you, we'll tell you and you can cancel for a full refund.

Plan to be there when it arrives. Freight is a kerbside delivery — the driver is not carrying a 95-inch carton round the back for you.
